You can get a free Doritos Locos taco at Taco Bell on April 21

article

Taco Tuesday is extra special with some free tacos.

On Tuesday, April 21, Taco Bell is once again offering a free taco to drive-thru guests at participating locations across the U.S. No purchase is necessary.

Each customer has a choice of a Flamin&apos Hot or Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos taco.

The offer is limited to one per person. Customers can order ahead through the Taco Bell website or app for drive-thru pick-up orders, or just simply head to a drive-thru at a participating restaurant.

The deal is not available with a delivery order.

According to Thrillist, the Flamin&apos Hot Doritos Locos taco was launched by Taco Bell last week. April 21 is the fourth straight Tuesday that Taco Bell has offered free Doritos Locos.

Last month, Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell, said in a letter to customers, "It&aposs a small way for us to say thank you for the ways you&aposre showing up for your communities and our chance to give you a little TLC during this time."

Flamin&rsquo Hot Doritos Locos Tacos Are Coming to Taco Bell Very Soon

While most of the world is in quarantine, Taco Bell has made the generous move to give out Doritos Locos Tacos for free not once, but twice. Though it would seem to simply be a matter of helping out hungry, homebound customers, it might’ve secretly been an attempt to lay the groundwork for a new, spicier taco shell that T Bell had in the works all along.

Based on a series of rumors that have since been confirmed by Taco Bell, it appears that the world will see the debut of a new Flamin’ Hot Doritos Locos Taco dropping on April 16. Based around Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos, which dropped in 2019, the taco is the same winning combination of Dorito-themed shell and Taco Bell insides, except a little más caliente.

The first reports that something might be in the works come from Chewboom, where a San Antonio-based eater claims to have found them when swinging by to pick up a free Doritos Locos Taco on March 31. From there, rumors flourished on Reddit, where multiple commenters (both consumers and alleged Taco Bell employees alike) chimed in to affirm the existence of the mythical spicy-shelled taco.

Though you obviously shouldn’t believe most of what you read on the internet, it turns out they were right. Taco Bell eventually confirmed both the existence of the Flamin’ Hot DLT and the rumored April 16 release date, and mentioned a price of $1.95 each. They’re also available as part of Taco Bell’s Taco Variety Packs, which is an economical way to have a stay-at-home taco Tuesday when you order for delivery.

So if you’re desperate to live más once again, this is your time. Order this taco (safely) and start to feel the heat again.

Whether you love soft-shell tacos or crunchy ones, you're in luck. According to the fine print on Taco Bell's website, the only taco excluded from the deal is the Doritos Locos Supreme Taco. That means you can get a Soft Taco, a Soft Taco Supreme, a Crunchy Taco, a Crunchy Taco Supreme, or a regular Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos taco.

You can also make the taco vegetarian or vegan by switching the beef for beans and/or the cheese with pico de gallo. Keep in mind, though, that you'll have to pay for add-ons like extra meat, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, or sour cream.

This year, the Taco Bell deal came early in this World Series, just like last year when Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts also stole second base during the first game. The team went on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. That's not to say the team with the stolen base went on to win because of the free Taco Bell taco promotion—but who knows. A free Taco Bell meal never hurt anyone.

Taco Bell gives away free Doritos Locos Tacos after World Series

Taco Bell is giving out free Doritos Locos Tacos nationwide Tuesday afternoon in honor of the World Series, which the San Francisco Giants won in a four-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers.

The Mexican-style chain, a sponsor of Major League Baseball, promised to offer the promotion if any player stole a base during the series. On Thursday night, Giants outfielder Angel Pagan delivered, stealing second base during the eighth inning of Game 2.

On Tuesday, from 2 to 6 p.m., participating Taco Bells across the country will give out one free Doritos Locos Taco to guests. The snack, which quickly became the company’s most successful new product ever after launching in March, normally costs $1.29.

On the East Coast, which has been ravaged by super storm Sandy, Taco Bell said locations unable to open because of the weather will hand out free tacos at a later date.

“Our top priority is the well-being of our team members and customers during this massive storm,” the Irvine-based company said in a statement. “In the affected areas, we are now focused on feeding first responders and reopening our restaurants. Our operators are handling this on a case-by-case basis.”

Fast food brands often turn to giveaways to build customer loyalty and goodwill. In the past, whenever the Lakers won a home game while keeping their opponent under 100 points, fans received vouchers for free tacos from Jack in the Box.

This summer, Taco Bell helicoptered 10,000 Doritos Locos Tacos to a remote Alaska town – free of charge.

Taco 'bout drama! Free taco offer from Taco Bell is met with (some) resistance

Taco Bell is giving SOME of us something smile about. The fast food franchise announced on Sunday it will be giving away a free Doritos Locos taco through its drive-thru at participating locations all day March 31.

The company wrote in part, “Now more than ever, we could all use a free Doritos Locos Tacos.”

Now more than ever, we could all use a free Doritos® Locos Tacos. Get yours this Tuesday 3/31 when you visit our drive-thru.

&mdash Taco Bell (@tacobell) March 29, 2020

Several people fired back after the announcement because of social distancing and sel- quarantine measures in place during COVID-19. One Twitter user wrote,

“Aren’t we supposed to be encouraging ppl to stay home - not go out & about either spreading or contracting #Covid_19? #NotDyingForATaco"

The reaction wasn’t all negative. Another Twitter user wrote in part,

“When life hands you lemons . make tacos. Well done, @tacobell #TacoTuesday"

Fan of the idea or not, you can receive a free seasoned beef Doritos Locos Taco through the drive-thru. No purchase is necessary. Limit one per person.
